BIOGRAPHY

An Interview with Neelam Parikh, PA-C

Neelam Parikh was born in New York City but moved to Baltimore, Maryland when she was ten years old. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland in Biology with a concentration in Neurobiology and Physiology. Her fascination with human anatomy, along with her passion to help others, is what motivated her to pursue a career in medicine.

Neelam, in 2011, became a scribe in the emergency room of the busy Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Being a scribe put Neelam on the front lines of health care delivery and allowed her to see a variety of disease states in a diverse patient population. Scribing also required proficiency and attention to detail essential to medical providers and the experience cemented her passion for healthcare. It was in the emergency room where she was introduced to the Physician Assistant profession and decided it was here she could make a difference and fulfill her career goals in medicine.

Neelam enrolled in the very well respected Hahnemann Physician Assistant program at Drexel University in Philadelphia and graduated with her Masters in 2015. While she always felt the ER would be where she started working she found a different passion as she rotated through the different medical specialties during PA training. Neelam realized the importance of primary care and preventative medicine and enjoyed the diversity of illness and patients on which she could have a direct and lasting impact.

Neelam is board certified and joined our practice in February of 2016. She is excited to practice medicine in our community and enjoys all aspects of primary care but has a special concentration on Cardiology and Women’s Health. With a background in Emergency Medicine she also takes an interest in managing cases involving urgent medical problems.

Neelam enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She is fluent in several languages and currently broadening herself by becoming proficient in Spanish. Faithful to her academic beginnings she is an avid Maryland Terps fan! Neelam is seeing patients in our Fredericksburg office daily and welcomes you to our medical practice.
