BIOGRAPHY

Helena Unhoch-MacCauley is a Licensed Professional Counselor with specializations in Trauma Focused Therapy and Substance Used Disorders. Helena also carries two additional supervisory credentials. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Master of Science Degree from Capella University; both with Distinctions and Honors. She has additional certifications and trainings in suicide prevention (ASSIT), grief counseling and supports, domestic violence awareness and healing, as well as various training related to coping with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and other mental health conditions.

Helena has provided clinical supports in various levels of care assisting individuals throughout their therapeutic journey. Using an integrative approach, she combines evidence-based techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-focused methods. Her background includes working within the Substance Use Disorder community, work with our aging populations, experience in Psychosocial Rehab, collaboration and support to/ with first responders, supervisory roles and program development, along with years of facilitating therapeutic supports to various other populations.

She is well versed in tailoring each session to meet you where you are—whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply seeking greater clarity and balance. Her goal is to provide a safe and honest space for her patients to feel heard while allowing for growth in self-esteem, self-advocacy, thus taking steps towards their true self.
